No one can deny that a certain type of medical institution has one of the best attentions in the world, Isapres, but the big question is: Can you pay it?. Isapres, as being a private sector of the medical system in Chile, has no regulation by the government, or not a succesful one. The minimum requirement for being part of the Isapre is earn over a million Chilean Pesos, so the AFP can discount the correspondent Tax for health insurance. But the big problem is that the last stadistic did it by the "Fundacion Sol" on January 29th of 2015 showed that the 70% of the Chilean workers earn less than 426.000 Chilean Pesos in a month. This means that less than the 30% of the Chilean are able to pay the famous Isapres, the best health system, is it that fair?.
On the other hand we have Fonasa, the problematic and unstable medical public system of Chile. On winter season all the hospitals are full of people and there is a lack of specialist doctors all over the country. The "AUGE" was a little help, but is not enough. If you want to have a good state of health the only solution that you have is go to the private health system, Isapre. But knowing that over the 70% can´t afford it, there is no other choice more than abide the precarious public health system with their long rows and bad attention. Fonasa has been a help, that is true, but it cannot be compared with Isapre, the private health organization.
Although Chile was accomplished with the 23rd place, we have a long way to go to improve our medical structure as a country. But for the moment, this is the reality about the difference between Fonasa and Isapre in Chile.
